        China names new national women's volleyball squad

        Chinese volleyball has embarked on its preparation for the 2008 Olympic Games as its new women's national team was named on Wednesday.

        Chen Zhonghe, who led China to the World Cup title in 2003 and the Athens Olympics gold medal last year, remains as the head coach, the Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA) said in a news circular.

        The 18-member national team is a mix of experience and youth, including eight players who competed at the Athens Games. Four vetern players, including Wang Lina and Zhang Yuehong, were dropped from the squad due to their ages.

        The team will gather from March 1 to April 7 at a training basein south China's Hunan province, said the CVA.

        Roster:

        Feng Kun, Xue Ming, Zhang Ping, Yin Na, Yang Hao, Liu Yanan, Chu Jinling, Wang Yimei, Ma Yunwen, Zhao Yun, Zhou Suhong, Luo Yu,Wang Ting, Wang Keke, Zhao Ruirui, Wang Lin, Song Nina.
