When Wu Hao, a junior high student, left the hospital Wednesday, he is the second person of six to recover from the meningitis outbreak in Dongtai, a city of east China's Jiangsu Province.

The other four are in stable conditions and will recover in the next few days, said He Qing, director of the local hospital where the six were treated.

From Jan. 21 to 26, there are six kids in a junior high school in Tangyang, 50 km from Dongtai, came down with symptoms such as fever, vomiting and neck anchylosis.

After being confirmed as epidemic cerebrospinal meningitis, the six students were quarantined and got efficient treatment from doctors and experts sent from Dongtai.

The school was disinfected and all students and teachers were vaccinated.

Wang Zhongze, deputy director of the Dongtai disease prevention and control center, said that thanks to the effective prevention measures, by Wednesday a week had passed with no new cases reported.

Meanwhile, in Wuhu city of east China's Anhui Province, where seven cases were reported, no more cases have been reported for 10 straight days. All the patients have been cured with the last one leaving the hospital Wednesday.
