Hosts Kuwait easily downed Hong Kong 4-0 in a Group D Asian World Cup qualifying match at the Friendship and Peace Stadium Wednesday night.

Played in sweltering 42-degree heat, Kuwait dished out attacking soccer and constantly raided the rival citadel but had to wait until the 12th minute of the first half when Hussein Taraj scored first goal.

Badr Muttawa followed him with a neat header in the 37th. The first half ended 3-0 with a last minute goal by Musaed Nida. After resumption, Kuwait forged ahead when striker Khalaf Salama found the mark.

Kuwait now have six points in Group D, trailing China who has nine points after a 4-0 win over Malaysia earlier. Hong Kong has three and Malaysia has no point.
