The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) patient, surnamed Song in Hefei, capital of Anhui Province, has maintained normal temperature for eight consecutive days and is now in stable condition.

Song took a stroll Saturday along a corridor by herself inside the hospital's isolation area in the Anhui Medical University Hospital, Zhang Xuejun, president of the University told Xinhua.

Song, a master-degree medical student of the Anhui Medical University, was presumed to have contracted the disease when serving as an intern at the Virology Lab of the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Beijing.

"She enjoys better appetite than before, ate all her food and took a walk by herself," Zhang said.

The hospital will continued the treatment, supplemented by psychological assistance to Song.

The University president said that the patient is in a good mood and cooperative in treatment, reading books in spare time.
