Britain warns of 'terrorist' attacks in Saudi Britain said Monday that "terrorists" could be in the final stages of planning an attack in Saudi Arabia, the birthplace of Osama bin Laden and the scene of major suicide bombings last year.
"We believe that terrorists remain determined to carry out further attacks in Saudi Arabia," the Foreign Office in London said in advice to travelers.
The Foreign Office, which was already advising against all but essential travel to Saudi Arabia, issued fresh guidance for travelers about the possibility of an imminent attack.
"We have just added a line to our travel advice," a Foreign Offices spokeswoman told Reuters, updating the warning on the possibility of attacks.
The new added line says: "These may be in the final stages of preparation."
Suicide bombings against residential compounds in the Saudi capital Riyadh last May and November killed more than 50 people.
British Airways has canceled several flights to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks because of security concerns. |
