        38 foreign languages available on website

        Information in 38 foreign languages besides standard Chinese and four Chinese dialects are available on China Radio International (CRI) Online starting from Sunday, declared CRI President Li Dan Sunday at a news conference in Beijing.

        "I am happy to tell you that CRI Online is now the website with the most text-languages and with the second most audio-languages on the internet," said Li.

        He added that the multi-language site opened yet another window of opportunity for the 62-year-old radio station besides broadcasting.

        Wang Guoqing, vice-director of the State Council Information Office highly praised CRI's achivements in constructing a multi-language website, saying that:" Today I'm pleased to see that CRI has launched a website with a total of 38 foreign language and taken a big step forward in developing multi-language websites."

        CRI broadcasts 290 hours of programs each day to all over the world in 43 languages, including 38 foreign languages.

        CRI online (www.cri.com.cn/www.cribroadcast.cn/www.cri.cn) was launched December 26, 1998. As one of the major State-level news websites, CRI Online provides the netizens with both domestic and international news. The multi-language, multi-media website, featuring diversified audio programs, aims to introduce China to the rest of the world and introduce the world to China.

        CRI Online attracts visitors from around the world because of its high-quality, multi-language services and accurate, up-to-date information.
