Guangzhou Zhujiang Brewery Co Ltd signed a co-operative contract with Guangzhou Heavy Industrial Group and Guangzhou Light Industrial and Machinery Group on Wednesday to jointly build 10 new fermentation tanks and set up two new production lines - to became Asia's top brewer by volume.

Each fermentation tank will have a capacity of more than 600 tons; and Zhujiang Brewery's current six production lines will also be renovated and expanded in the near future at a cost of more than 420 million yuan (US$50.6 million).

By 2005, the company will have an annual production capacity of more than 1.5 million tons, according to Yang Rongming, chairman of board and general manager of Zhujiang Brewery.
