Industrial added value in October increases 17.2% ( 2003-11-10 20:55) (Xinhua)
China's industrial added value in October increased by 17.2 percent from the
same month last year, reaching a total 375.3 billion yuan (45.2 billion US
dollars), the State Statistics Bureau said Monday.
The industrial added value's growth rate in October was 0.9 percentage points
more than that in September.
China's total industrial added value in the first 10 months of 2003 stood at
3272.8 billion yuan (394.3 billion US dollars), up 16.7 percent from the same
period last year, according to the bureau.
The bureau said the three pillar industries, namely, electronic
telecommunication equipment manufacturing, electric machinery manufacturing and
metallurgy, reported remarkable growths in October, up 6.1 percent, 5 percent
and 4.7 percent respectively from September.
A slowdown in automobile sales dropped the transportation equipment
manufacturing sector's contribution rate to the growth of the total industrial
added value in October compared with that in September, according to the
bureau's statistics.
