People contacting SARS patients, suspects will be isolated ( 2003-11-03 09:48) (Xinhua)
China's Ministry of Public Health has defined the range of persons who are
considered to have had close contact with SARS (severe acute respiratory
syndrome) patients and suspected patients.
Those within the range are not permitted to go out if they have been isolated
at home and the rest should be kept alone in isolation wards, according to the
newly issued principles and standards for handling such cases.
These people are more narrowly defined by the principles and standards as
those who have had close or common contact with a ASRS patient or suspect within
three days before the outbreak of their illness.
So far, no SARS patients or suspects have been found, according to the
ministry's document.
The institutions for prevention and control of SARS at county level are
demanded by the ministry to quickly send at least two specialists in epidemics
to investigate the reported cases.
