Makelele's Chelsea move to go through - Valdano
        ( 2003-09-01 08:59) (Agencies)

Claude Makelele's move from Real Madrid to Chelsea will go through as planned, despite a disagreement over the player's cut of the transfer fee, Real's sporting director Jorge Valdano said on Sunday.

"The fax agreeing to the conditions of the transfer, signed by Makelele, is going through now," Valdano told Onda Cero radio.

Chelsea and Real Madrid reached agreement on Friday for the French midfielder to move to London for a fee of 24 million euros ($26.24 million).

Doubts about the transfer emerged on Sunday, however, when Makelele's agent said his player was expecting Real to pay him 15 percent of the fee, around 3.6 million euros ($3.94 million).

"There is very little chance of this being resolved," Makelele's agent Marc Roger told Radio Marca.

Valdano rejected Roger's claims on Sunday night as he announced that the transfer was going through.

"Makelele invented a law saying that Real Madrid had to pay 15 percent of his transfer," Valdano said.

"That rule does exist when the transfer is between two Spanish clubs, but with the slight difference that it is the buying club that pays the 15 percent, not the selling club.

"We've been involved in an absurd situation this afternoon."
