College student rewarded 20,000 yuan for explosion clues A college student in southwest China's Chengdu City was rewarded with 20,000 yuan Tuesday by the police for providing crucial clues that lead to the arrest of the suspects behind a downtown explosion on April 3. The student, identified only as Zhang, was near the site when the explosion occurred at about 12:00 am at the Tianfu Square in downtown Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, causing many injuries. Showing no panic, Zhang kept a keen eye on suspicious persons and occurrences, and reported them to the police without delay. Thanks to his information, it took the police only 10 hours to track down the suspects. Chengdu's police chief Li Jian praised Zhang for his high moral standards and strength of will, and called on all citizens to learn from him and help the police in safeguarding peace and security. |
