BEIJING - China's paralympic delegation chief Zhang Haidi on Wednesday pledged that there would be no doping in the Chinese team during the coming Rio Paralympics.
Zhang, also chairwoman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, urged all Chinese Paralympic athletes to stand firm against doping and compete in sports cleanly, at a press conference.
"Our disabled athletes should behave as real heroes with an unbending will to overcome difficulties. Their faith in winning glory for the country and people should never be tainted by doping," Zhang added.
The Rio Paralympics takes place September 7-18 in the wake of the Summer Olympics. About 4,350 athletes from 170 countries will take part in 22 sports. China has sent a total of 308 athletes to the 15th Paralympic Games.
