One confirmed dead in E China colliery gas outburst

        (Xinhua) Updated: 2015-03-01 13:27

NANCHANG - A miner has been confirmed dead after a coal and gas outburst at a colliery in East China's Jiangxi province Saturday, trapping four miners, local authorities said on Sunday.

The rescue team has found the dead miner's body while the other three miners were still trapped in the pit, awaiting rescue.

A 110-meter-shaft in the colliery has been clogged by cinder. More than 40 meters has so far been cleared, the rescue team said.

The outburst occurred at around 11:57 am on Saturday at Yongshan coal mine in Leping, a county-level city, according to the provincial coal mine safety watchdog.
