China's Internet environment betters amid govt clearing: poll

        (Xinhua) Updated: 2015-02-27 21:40

BEIJING - A majority of Chinese people believe China's Internet environment has improved in the past two years, according to poll results released on Friday.

The Horizon poll found that 83.7 percent of respondents thought they were experiencing better online order, and an overwhelming 90.6 percent expect things to get even better.

The poll sampled 8,948 people in 45 major cities, most of who received an education of junior college or further.

Some 78.1 percent of respondents felt the Internet has become safer, but still worried about their personal information.

The Chinese government has launched a string of campaigns to clear Internet space, fight cyber attacks and crack down on online porn and rumors since 2012. Over 90 percent of respondents support these acts.
