English website of China's State Council, or cabinet, launched its brand-new edition with the assistance of China Daily on Oct 8 in Beijing amid efforts to build an international communication platform.
The latest revamp marks a milestone for the website of the Chinese government and also a starting point to build a “creative, transparent and open” government, said the State Council.
The new website (http://english.gov.cn/) has dramatically optimized the content structure, redesigned the layout, and adopted new technology while fully taking into account the international community's information requirement from the Chinese government.
Gao Anming, deputy editor-in-chief of China Daily, said the newspaper group will run the website with the best team and the most advanced technologies, making it the first-choice of English readers to access the policies of the Chinese government and understand state leaders and the development of China.
The new edition is integrated with international and interactive elements to follow the latest trends of Internet development. It has set up six major sections, namely Premier, News, Policies, Directory, Services and Archive, and more than 30 secondary sections, to provide important information about the Chinese government as well as the activities of State Council leaders to the outside world.
