Chinese citizens urged to avoid Thai rally sites

        (Xinhua) Updated: 2014-02-25 16:03

BANGKOK - The Chinese embassy in Thailand on Tuesday warned Chinese citizens, especially tourists, to keep away from rally sites and surrounding areas in the Thai capital Bangkok.

This is the fifth travel advisory the embassy has issued since the political unrest in November 2013.

Chinese citizens are urged to avoid the Ratchaprasong area in Bangkok, where a number of popular tourist destinations are located, according to a statement posted on the embassy's website.

On Sunday, a bomb explosion in the area left three people dead, including two children, and 21 others injured.

The embassy also asked Chinese citizens to keep clear of several other rally sites and surrounding areas in Bangkok, including the Government House, Government Complex, Lumpini Park, Sala Daeng, Asoke and Pathumwan.

Chinese citizens should closely monitor the situation in Thailand and protect themselves, the statement said, adding they can contact the embassy for help when in need.
