More than 200 factory workers in Shanghai's Jiading district have been hospitalized after suffering symptoms suspected to be from food poisoning, the Xinmin Evening Post reported on Wednesday.
The Shanghai Food and Drug Administration launched an investigation after the workers were rushed to four local hospitals at early on Friday morning with symptoms including nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
All the workers are still receiving treatment in the hospitals.
Several workers in the north branch of Ruijin Hospital are in serious condition, but their lives are not in danger, according to the report.
The workers are from SIIX EMS (Shanghai) Co Ltd, a Japanese company trading in electronic products.
