BEIJING -- Communist Party of China (CPC) chief Xi Jinping and other senior leaders on Friday joined lawmakers in panel discussions on the government work report.
The report was delivered by Premier Wen Jiabao on Tuesday when the 12th National People's Congress (NPC), the top legislature, opened its first annual session in Beijing.
While joining NPC deputies from eastern province of Jiangsu to deliberate on the report, Xi urged to deepen the industrial restructuring and build a modern industrial system.
Xi, who is general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, called for the improvement of economic development quality and efficiency through addressing surplus production capacity.
Xi said the industrialization, urbanization and agricultural modernization should be pushed in a synchronized way.
Vice-Premier Zhang Dejiang urged to deepen reform and opening-up and strengthen the cooperation among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao while joining a panel discussion with lawmakers from south China's Guangdong Province.
Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said ensuring a rich cultural life for people is an important part of improving people's well-being while joining a panel discussion with lawmakers from northwest China's Qinghai Province.
Wang Qishan, another member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, called for the acceleration of institutional reform and organization system innovation. He also called for strengthening the market allocation of resource when working for the expansion of domestic demand, creation of jobs and improvement of people's well-being.
Wang made the remarks while joining the panel discussion with national legislators from east China's Anhui Province.
Zhang Gaoli, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, urged to boost green, recycling and low-carbon development while joining the panel discussion with national legislators from north China's Shanxi Province, a major coal-producing province in the country.
