A kindergarten teacher has been fired after she tore the ear of a 5-year-old girl in Chang’an, Dongguan, Guangdong province, on Wednesday, Guangzhou Daily reported
The child’s mother, surnamed Yao, went to the kindergarten to seek an explanation and later sought police help after she found a 4-centimeter-long wound on her daughter Na Na’s left ear.
When the teacher, surnamed Wang, was questioned by police officers, she admitted she had grabbed the girl’s ear to force her to stand outside the classroom because Na Na had been chatting with two other children during class.
Wang asked Yao for forgiveness.
Yang initially asked for compensation of 20,000 yuan ($3,250), but the kindergarten refused to pay that.
With mediation from police and the local education department, both sides reached an agreement, and the kindergarten immediately fired Wang.
The newspaper did not reveal details of any compensation.
