Human trafficking verdict appealed
A human trafficker who was sentenced to death last year for organizing the trafficking and sale of more than 200 children had her case reheard at a higher court, Yunnan Provincial High Court said on Wednesday.
Jiang Kaizhi, 52, was originally convicted of organizing a gang to abduct or "buy" infants from Yunnan province and sell them in Henan province.
Her gang trafficked and sold 223 infants in less than a year.
The other 35 gang members who helped Jiang received sentences ranging from three years to life from Yunnan Qujing city people's intermediate court last June.
They appealed their sentences.
The result of the retrial will be announced later, the high court said.
