More than 100,000 Chinese children suffering from hearing disabilities are expected to receive hearing aid products for free thanks to a 10-year philanthropic project.
The project was jointly launched by the?United States charity Starkey Hearing Foundation and the Beijing-based China Women Major Charity Fund.
The two organizations announced it at the "So the World May Hear" launch ceremony and gala held in Beijing over the weekend.
So far, more than 12,000 hearing aid products have been donated to about 6,000 people with hearing problems who couldn't afford them in Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces.
China had about 27.8 million people with hearing disabilities in 2011, according to the Xinhua News Agency.
