The Chinese and South Korean media should continue playing a positive role in providing accurate, timely, fair and comprehensive information for the people of both nations, said a Chinese official at the opening ceremony of The Fourth China-South Korea Media High-Level Dialogue in Seoul on Monday. It was attended by more than 30 media representatives from both countries.

Wang Zhongwei, deputy director of the State Council Information Office of China, said that 2012 is the 20th anniversary of the establishment of China-South Korea diplomatic relationship and the media should work to eliminate the bias among people in both countries, promote mutual understanding and friendship and build up a good public opinion atmosphere for the development of bilateral relations.

South Korean Second Vice Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) Kim Yong-hwan stressed at the opening ceremony that the friendship between China and South Korea needs the two peoples' mutual support and cooperation.

The forum, which started in 2009, is jointly organized by State Council Information Office of China and MCST to provide a high-level dialogue platform for the two countries' media.
