HONG KONG -- Hong Kong banned food and milk imports from five prefectures in Japan on Wednesday over fears of radiation contamination in food and water, a government official said.
"The ban is on food products from five prefectures produced or harvested on and after March 11. They include milk, beverages, milk powder, fruits, vegetables, game, meat, poultry, eggs and aquatic products," said a spokeswoman at Hong Kong's Centre for Food Safety.
The five prefectures are Fukushima, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Gunma, and Chiba, she added.
