BEIJING - Repair work Saturday started on a section of the Great Wall that was intentionally damaged by a gold mining company in 2009 in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
A section of the wall in Qingshuihe County built in the Ming Dynasty (1368 to 1644 A.D.) was also included in the repair plan.
The construction of the Great Wall dates back to around 200 BC when Emperor Qin Shihuang (259-210 B.C.) had fortification walls built to stop invasions from northern tribes.
