Premier meets dignitaries ahead of think-tank summit(Xinhua)
Updated: 2009-07-02 21:46 BEIJING: Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Thursday met with a number of prominent foreign politicians in town for an upcoming think-tank summit in Beijing.
The dignitaries included former President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, Director-General of World Intellectual Property Organization Francis Gurry, Secretary General of United Nations Conference on Trade and Development Supachai Panitchpakdi.
The summit is organized by China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), a non-governmental research and consulting organization created in this March and headed by former Chinese Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan. At the summit, attendees are expected to discuss the global economic downturn and ways to facilitate the recovery of the world economy.
The first Global Think Tank Summit will be held in Beijing from July 2-4, where close to 100 top-notch think tanks from home and abroad will be represented, including the Brookings Institution.
