Du Tiancai, 50, owned a small workshop in Anshun city, Southwest China's Guizhou province, which makes gravestones, also known as headstones or tombstones.

Because of the stone-cutting machine, the workshop is a world of snow-white. The workers' whole bodies, including hair and eyebrows, are all white due to the dust.

Du has worked in the industry for more than 30 years, and sticks by his special occupation.

The stones used are transported from Ziyun county, Du said, adding that they process and carve three or four headstones per month, which can be sold for 8,000-9,000 yuan each.
