        CASS-RDI project delegation visits Indonesia

        On November 11 - 13, 2015, Zhao Baige, Member of NPC Standing Committee, Deputy Director Commissioner of NPC Foreign Affairs Committee and Chair of Advisory Committee of CASS-RDI led a delegation to Indonesia.

        On the morning of November 12, Tantowi Yahya, Deputy Chair of the Indonesian Parliament's Commission I, met with the Delegation at the Parliament House. Mr Yahya said that Indonesia is the largest economy of ASEAN, with its agriculture, industry and service industry playing an active role in the national economy. China and Indonesia are close neighbors across the sea. The long-standing friendship lasts between the two has gone through an extraordinary course. After President Xi Jinping proposed the "Maritime Silk Road" vision during his visit to Indonesia in 2013, both parties have been consistently strengthening their comprehensive strategic partnership, in order to jointly build a closer China-ASEAN community of common destiny with great efforts and to march towards mutual development and prosperity. Both sides recalled the Bandung Spirit of peaceful coexistence and seeking common ground while maintaining differences advocated by China and Indonesia, as well as other Asian and African countries during the Bandung Conference in 1955, which has made indelible contributions to promoting the building of new-type international relations.

        Both sides hoped that through the cooperation with CASS-RDI, they can jointly build an expert team with government, market and think tank backgrounds, and further utilize their respective advantages in promoting in-depth cooperation between enterprises of China and Indonesia in areas including power, HSR, nonferrous metals, shipbuilding and construction materials and on infrastructure construction (including railway, highway, port, berth, dam, airport and bridge) and acceleratingcommunication between think tanks, promoting project cooperationand capacity building so as to achieve "early yields" as soon as possible and jointly advance and serve the grand initiative of the "21st Century Maritime Silk Road" by China and the "Global Maritime Fulcrum" development strategy by Indonesia.

        In the afternoon of November 12, the CASS-RDI Delegation visited the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), welcomed by Jusuf Wanandi, Director of the Centre and Heads of Politics and Economic Affairs Departments. Launched in 1971, the centre is a non-profit independent institution dedicated to domestic policy and international studies. Its objectives are to promote policy-making on the basis of researches on policy orientation, dialogues and public discussions. It takes economics, politics, social reforms and international relationships into its scope of study. The Centre is deemed as one of the best think tanks in Indonesia. Both sides said they would deepen think tank exchanges and cooperation and jointly coordinate government, market and social resources to facilitate practical exchanges and project cooperation between enterprises of China and Indonesia.

        The same day also saw in-depth communications between the Delegation and representatives from Chinese enterprises in Indonesia, includingleaders of China Railway 17th Bureau Group, Huawei, CCESS, China United Engineering Corporation, Sany and Anhui Conch Cement Co.,Ltd respectively shared their wisdom concerning development prospect, cooperation opportunities, experience and lessons and difficulties and demands of Chinese funded enterprises in Indonesia. The representatives greatly appreciated the achievements of RDI in serving the "One Belt and One Road" initiative, welcomed the all-inclusive service model in areas such as policy, industry, law, standard, information, investment and finance as well as public relations provided by RDI. Enterprises participating in the meetingexpressed their willingness to join the construction of RDI.

        On the evening of November 12, Xie feng, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia met with the Delegation and held in-depth exchanges on topics includingstatus quo of Indonesia, production capacity cooperation between the two countries, enterprise matching, think tank communications and case analysis. Xie feng said that the RDI service model integrating government, market, society and think tank is an positive and practical push tothe "One Belt and One Road" initiative and the Embassy is ready to assist RDI in policy communication, market matching and think tank exchanges to jointly serve substantial cooperation between China and Indonesia.
