With vending machines these days dispensing just about everything, from coffee to car, it's no surprise that there's now one for vegetables.
In an effort to make it convenient for shoppers, Central area of Shanghai installed the first vegetable vending machine on Nov 24, 2014.
Manufactured by a Chinese company, it will operate 24 hours a day. The vegetables will be sold at three yuan ($0.5) for 500 grams on average, and the price will be 10 to 20 percent lower than the market price.
Customers can purchase the vegetables with cash. If they do not want to pay with cash, they can also choose to pay online and buy the vegetables by scanning the QR code posted on the machine.
