The organizing committee of the Olympic Expo Beijing 2008 announced yesterday in Beijing the appointment of China Guardian Auctions Co Ltd, the leading artwork auction agency in China serving as the sole auction partner to sell Olympic souvenirs during the event.

Auction items involved will include Olympic stamps, artworks, collections and paintings. Portraitures of Olympic VIPs such as former International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Juan Antonio Samaranch, and IOC head Jacques Rogge and Olympic champions and famous coaches will be auctioned during the expo.

Sponsored by the IOC, the Chinese Olympic Committee, the Beijing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG) and China Post Group, the expo will be held at the Beijing Exhibition Center from August 8 to 18 this year.

The exhibits will include IOC collections, highlighted by the stamp collections of Samaranch; special Olympic-themed stamps, Olympic-themed coins and special Olympic-themed stamps from international collectors, international Olympic memorabilia collections, and international Olympic artworks.

China Guardian, established in 1993, is the earliest auction company on the Chinese mainland specializing in the sale of Chinese artwork. For more than 10 years, the company has successfully conducted more than 300 auctions with more than 200,000 items sold.
