Workers from the Jilin Province Power Transmission and Substation Project Co finished a strain-resistant corner tower in Qinyang, Henan province on March 23, 2008.
It is part of the "Jindongnan-Nanyan-jingmen UHV AC pilot demonstration project," the first 10kv power transmission line built by the State Grid Corporation of China. The project has progressed smoothly, and the iron tower unit construction is drawing to a close.
The project starts at the Jindongnan Substation in Changzhi, Shanxi province, and will end at Jingmen Substation in Jingmen, Hubei province, across the Yellow and Hanjiang rivers. It will eventually run about 653.8 kilometers. The project's investment totals 5.69 billion yuan.
Its rated voltage is 10 kv and maximum operational voltage 11kv. The normal transmission power is 5 million kilowatts. The project will boost UHV grid development in China as the first "power express way."
Construction on the lines will end in August and they will be put into operation before the end of the year, as required by the State Grid Corporation of China.
