China-Czech bilateral trade surges 61.9% in 2007(Xinhua)
Updated: 2008-02-15 17:03 Bilateral trade volume between China and the Czech Republic rocketed 61.9 percent year on year to $9.9 billion, Petr Vavra, the Czech Embassy in Beijing's commercial and economic section head, told Xinhua on Friday. The Czech Republic imported goods from China equaling $9.2 billion in 2007, up 61.1 percent compared with 2006. This figure accounted for 7.8 percent of the total Czech imports volume. "China has become an increasingly important Czech's supplier of machinery and electronic products as well as consumer goods, including shoes, toys and glasses," said Vavra. The Czech Republic's exports to China reached $700 million last year, up 73.7 percent year on year, with a trade deficit of $8.5 billion.
