The new Volkswagen compact sedan, made by the Sino-German joint venture FAW Volkswagen, was officially launched last week, and retails for between 131,800 and 185,800 yuan ($21,343 - 30,087).
The new Sagitar is equipped with Volkswagen's latest, smaller, EA211 engine, which has two options - the 1.6-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated and the 1.4-liter turbocharged fuel stratified injection. The model also has three gearbox options: a five-speed manual, six-speed Tiptronic or seven-speed direct shift gearbox.
The 1.6-liter version generates maximum power of 81kW/5800rpm and offers peak torque of 155Nm/3800rpm. Its comprehensive fuel consumption ranges between 6.5 and 6.8 liter per 100km. The 1.4-liter TSI version produces maximum power of 110kW/5000-6000rpm and its top torque reaches 250Nm/1750-3000rpm. It consumes 5.9 to 6.3 liters of fuel per 100km under comprehensive conditions.
