        (Xinhua) Updated: 2014-12-10 10:18

BEIJING - "Fleet of Time," a domestic romance depicting the life of China's post-80s generation, outperformed John Woo's star-studded drama in ticket sales to rule China's box office in the week ending Dec 7.

"Fleet of Time" earned 209 million yuan (about $33.7 million) in its opening weekend, China Film News reported on Tuesday.

It was followed by John Woo's "The Crossing: Part 1," which stars famed Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi and actress Song Hye-Kyo of the Republic of Korea. The drama grossed 112 million yuan in the six days of screening since Dec 2.

The third place was taken by domestic rom-com "Women Who Flirt" which pulled in about 85 million yuan the week. Its total ticket sales stood at 167.8 million yuan.

The fourth place went to "Interstellar," a sci-fi epic by director Christopher Nolan, which took 60.7 million yuan in the week. Its total ticket sales hit 732 million yuan by Dec 7.

Rounding up the top five list was Dream Works Animation's "Penguins of Madagascar," which earned 26.7 million yuan for the week and whose total box office reached 226 million yuan by the end of the week.
