China scenic spots cut ticket prices for holidays

As the eight-day Golden Week holiday approaches, combining the National Day break with the Mid-Autumn Festival from Sept 30, a number of tourist attractions nationwide have cut their ticket prices. According to the National Development and Reform Commission, 80 tourist attractions dropped ticket prices by 37 percent on average. Among them, 13 sightseeing destinations are free of charge to tourists. A second round of price cuts will be announced soon, with about 100 scenic spots becoming cheaper to enjoy. The NDRC said it will release specific information on the latest price reductions promptly.

WOWODI: Most of those 80 tourist attractions are not popular sites. The ticket prices of Chinese scenic spots are too expensive.

LEIDINGDING: These free scenic spots are seldom visited at ordinary times. Will the hot spots be free for the general public?

WHOISQQ: Price increases usually come faster than price cuts. Furthermore, these locations that have introduced a price-cut policy are barely known to the public.

XIBINGDEXIAOWO: Why isn't there a list that has all the names of the tourist attractions that raised their ticket prices? If the price-hike and price-cut lists can be released together, it will be more informative and have more significance for the general public.

FENNUDETIEDAN: I can see from the list there are several scenic spots in Shaanxi province. As a local, I can say I have never heard of them.

ZHANGHONGTANG: Although the size of price cuts is not big the policy is creditable for going in the right direction.

JUNIORWANSUI: If they are all free of charge just like West Lake in Hangzhou, in East China's Zhejiang province, then it can be called a harmonious society.

ALL THE INFORMATION IS FROM SINA WEIBO.
