Southwest China's Guizhou province, a major coal production base in the southern part of the nation, produced 50.19 million tons of raw coal in the first four months of this year, an increase of 9.91 percent over the same period of last year, according to the provincial energy bureau.
The four months also saw Guizhou produce 4.6 million tons of washed coal, down 5.63 percent year-on-year.
Guizhou boasts verified coal deposits of 58.7 billion tons, ranking the fifth across China.
