China hoped the upcoming Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Singapore would help boost global economic recovery, a Chinese Foreign Ministry official said here Friday.

"China hopes concrete cooperation plan could be laid out during the summit to help the world out of the international financial crisis and resume economic growth," Vice Foreign Minister He Yafei said at a press briefing.

China also hopes the summit could show clear opposition to trade protectionism and support to the Doha Round negotiation, and make progress in promoting regional economic integration, improving investment environment and realizing Bogor Goals, he said.

The 17th APEC summit is scheduled to be held on November 14 and 15 in Singapore. Chinese President Hu Jintao will attend the summit.

Hu will also attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting (AELM) and a dialogue between APEC economic leaders and representatives of the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).

He said during the summit, Hu will explain China's opinions on the battle against the international financial crisis and the global economic recovery, China's position on challenges of climate change, food and energy safety and China's view on APEC's future development.

Hu will also exchange views with APEC economic leaders on trade protectionism, investment facilitation and regional economic integration, he said.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of the APEC mechanism as well as the first target year of the Bogor Goals.

According to the Bogor Goals reached by the APEC member economies in 1994, industrialized economies should achieve the goal of free and open trade and investment no later than 2010 and developing economies no later than 2020.

Vice Commerce Minister Yi Xiaozhun said China hoped the industrialized economies of the APEC would realize the Bogor Goals despite the financial crisis.

China hoped the APEC would set up a review mechanism to assess the Bogor Goals with quantitative index, Yi said at the press briefing.
