China to impose deposit on adipic acid imports as anti-dumping measure
        (Xinhua)
        Updated: 2009-06-27 11:04

Starting Saturday, China will require a security deposit on adipic acid from the Republic of Korea, the European Union and the United States as a temporary anti-dumping measure, the Ministry of Commerce (MOC) said in a statement Friday.

The decision followed a preliminary ruling of the MOC saying the three countries had dumped adipic acid on the Chinese market, which it said had caused substantial damage to the domestic sector.

The MOC launched an anti-dumping investigation into adipic acid imports from the three nations on November 10.

It said the amount of the deposit paid at customs would be decided by the dumping margins of different producers, ranging from 5.7 percent to 35.4 percent.

The MOC did not say when, or under what conditions, the measure would end.

Adipic acid is primarily used in the production of nylon 6-6 and for manufacturing polyurethane foam and polyester resins.
