April property prices in 70 cities up 10.1%

Updated: 2008-05-15 14:10 Property prices in 70 major Chinese cities rose 10.1 percent year-on-year in April, compared with 10.7 percent growth in March, the state planning agency National Development and Reform Commission said. In a statement published on its website, the commission said the prices of new residential properties rose 10.8 percent year-on-year, down 0.6 percentage point from March's growth rate. Among the cities where property price growth exceeded 15 percent year-on-year last month were Urumqi (22 percent), Haikou (19.2 percent), Ningbo (17.8 percent), Bangbu (16.3 percent) and Beijing (16.1 percent). Prices of resale homes rose 10.3 percent year-on-year, 0.8 percentage point below the March growth rate. Non-residential property prices grew 6.9 percent, down 0.1 percentage point.
