Members of the The Brand Promotion Campaign - Eastern Route led by the
Ministry of Commerce arrived Nanjing on June 21.
A forum called
Brands Prompt Jiangsu to Go Global was held in the capital of Jingsu, a eastern
province pioneering in export-oriented economies, on June 22. Local government
officials, academic experts and executives from enterprises expressed their
opinions, exchanged ideas and forecast future development on Chinese brand
promotion in the meeting.
Of the 16 top companies presented on the forum, six have all or part of their
businesses in clothes manufacturing, four are consumer electronics producers or
distributors. Clothing makers acknowledged comparatively low technology embodied
in their exporting products. In addition to transforming from labor-intensive to
capital- and technology-intensive production model, it is more urgent now to
divert from a pure-producer for others to establish its own brand and compete
with the top players in the global market, executive say on the forum.
Technological innovation is the key solution, they believe.
Most enterprises recognized the importance of marketing and promotional
issues on the international market. Consumer's preference and cultural
background decide what they are likely to buy. A clothes maker can not step into
a local market without realizing and deeply understanding the specific needs of
the locals, said Bai Liangjin, vice president of Jiangsu Shuntian International
Group.
