A unique phenomenon may surprise people visiting the Xiaomeisha resort, in Shenzhen, Guangdong province: Sea waves seem to float.

On closer examination, people will discover it is actually a wind-powered installation, which was inspired by Xiaomeisha's landscape and created by Katie Rodgers, an artist from the United States. The work is derived from a painting Rodgers made for Xiaomeisha, Waves in the Cosmos, which is now on show at a joint exhibition of her works and photos of Chinese artist Yue Hongjun.

Wind and Ocean, which opened on Nov 8, initiates a dialogue on the exchanges among different cultures, organized by MGM Resorts International. Some of Rodgers' paintings on display were motivated by her previous trips to Dunhuang, Gansu province, of which the unique natural environment and historic cave art impressed her deeply.

Yue, a photographer and diver based in Shenzhen, shares his snapshots of underwater scenery of the various sea waters he has dived in. Through his lens, the mystics, expansiveness and brilliance of the ocean, as well as the lives thriving in it, are vividly presented to the audience.
