Guangzhou Metro Group signed a memorandum of understanding with Singapore-based SMRT Trains on Tuesday, aiming to establish a long-term strategic partnership by leveraging their respective strengths and expertise in rail technology, maintenance and operational efficiency.

In the integrated facilities area, both parties will enhance collaboration and exchanges in the application of efficient environmental conditioning systems and share advanced energy-saving concepts, models and technologies, according to the MOU.

Regarding track infrastructure maintenance and inspection, both parties will exchange their experience and expertise in areas such as the renewal of ballasted track and inspection technologies and explore exchange and cooperation in rail transit operation and maintenance.

As two leading international subway companies, the Guangdong province-based metro company and SMRT have previously engaged in in-depth discussions, reaching cooperation intentions in areas such as tunnel structure inspection, track updates, operational technologies, cross-border advertising agency services and transit-oriented development commercial advertising.

By signing the MOU, both parties aimed to create environmentally friendly, safe, reliable and sustainable urban rail transit systems to provide better transportation services.
