Yunfu city of Guangdong province is expected to deepen its economic and trade cooperation with RCEP member countries to help promote the city's high-quality trade development and build a green international metropolis through high-level opening up in the months to come, said Liang Shaoxiong, vice-mayor of Yunfu, at a news conference in Guangzhou on Monday.

Liang said the city will hold a series of economic and trade activities and comprehensively develop the new pattern of an open economy to expand cooperation with RCEP?member countries and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.

According to Liang, the 2nd China (Yunfu, Guangdong)-RCEP Industrial Cooperation Conference and the 2nd Yunfu (Xinxing) Metal Intelligent Manufacturing Industry & Stainless Steel Tableware and Kitchenware Expo will open on Thursday. The 21st Yunfu International Stone Materials Sci and Tech Fair and the 15th Yunfu Stone Cultural Week will take place between Friday and Monday.

Liang said the series of economic events will help build platforms for Yunfu, dubbed "China's stone capital", to further advance economic ties with the rest of the world. He added that his city will open its doors wider to the outside world.

Yunfu is also making every effort to integrate into the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), playing a bridge role in promoting cooperation and exchanges between GBA and ASEAN, Liang said.

The city is a bridgehead for the GBA to expand trade and cooperation with ASEAN and Southeast Asia and for the vast southwestern Chinese region to enter into the GBA market, he added.
