Cities use sci-tech innovation to deepen global exchanges
More and more Chinese cities are using their own unique advantages to boost scientific and technological innovation, as well as attract talent, in a bid to boost international exchanges.
In Nanjing, the capital of East China's Jiangsu province, city authorities are taking advantage of its unique style as a famous historical and cultural city, and a city of fraternity, openness and entrepreneurial innovation, to boost global exchanges.
With a history of nearly 2,500 years in city construction and now acting as a semi-provincial level city, Nanjing administers 11 districts with some 9.547 million residents.
To promote the deep integration between science and technology competition and cultural tourism, as well as bring diversified and rich sci-tech experiences to local residents, the city launched a trendy event lately to bolster international exchange and sharing.
Between Oct 4 and 5, the city held the highly anticipated 24th robotex Asian Finals at Nanjing International Exhibition Center, bringing together over 20,000 families from China, South Korea, India, Singapore, Estonia, Australia, Finland, Germany, the United States and other countries.
The gala not only covered such events as the Enjoyment Construction, SUMO, Line Following, Animal Rescue, and Float Parade, but also launched a series of colorful activities, providing a high-quality platform for the general public to experience the charms of science and technology, and deeply understand the development and application of the robotics industry.
The city aims to highlight the great importance it attaches to science and technology education under the background of the new era, the event organizers said.
The gala brought together 80 outstanding enterprises to participate in the grand event, and opened up a vast space for participants with new opportunities by displaying robot technology and its innovative application achievements.
Meanwhile, Nanjing is also constantly cultivating talent and gathering talent, so as to transform the city into a highland for talent.
Robotex has invited professional guests from Estonia, South Korea, Turkiye, India, Finland, Australia, Switzerland, the United States and other countries to share their knowledge and exchange experiences.
During the two-day competition, participants discussed the future development trends and the application prospects of robotics technology, and explored ways to cultivate new talent.
The participants all noted that the grand event will help lay a solid foundation for the city's talent training and scientific and technological progress, the event organizers said.
