A traffic accident in Qingdao, Shandong province, has gone viral with a video of a female driver who got into a physical altercation with a male driver after attempting to cut into traffic by driving in the opposite direction.

On Aug 28, the suspect, surnamed Wang, 38, was on her way to a hospital appointment. Faced with heavy traffic and slow movement, Wang resorted to driving in the opposite direction to overtake other vehicles. This maneuver led to a confrontation with a vehicle driven by Lin, 26, who was traveling in the correct direction, according to a statement released by the Qingdao public security bureau on Tuesday.

Wang attempted to reverse and merge into the correct lane. However, as she reversed, Lin moved forward, keeping their vehicles in close proximity and preventing Wang from merging into the correct lane. This situation resulted in Wang's vehicle colliding with a tour bus traveling in the right direction. Wang exited her vehicle and verbally abused Lin.

Following an agreement with the tour bus driver regarding the accident, Wang proceeded to verbally abuse and assault Lin, causing him to bleed from the nose.

On the following day, the district public security bureau punished Wang with a 10-day detention and a fine of 1,000 yuan ($140.52).

While in detention, Wang expressed regret, wrote an apology letter, and showed readiness to cover medical expenses and compensate Lin for the incident.

After a thorough investigation, authorities determined that the incident was a result of a traffic dispute and did not meet the criteria for intentional provocation or troublemaking behavior.

Additionally, Wang was fined 200 yuan and received three penalty points on her driving license for driving in the wrong direction, as imposed by the traffic management department.
