Chinese new energy vehicle maker BYD is to launch three models soon in Pakistan, as it steps up efforts to explore overseas markets.

The Sealion 6, Seal, and ATTO 3 were showcased at an experiential event held on Saturday, which marked the official launch of the BYD brand in the country in cooperation with Mega Motor Co.

Liu Xueliang, general manager of BYD Asia Pacific Auto Sales Division, said: "Our entry into the Pakistani market is not just about bringing advanced vehicles to consumers; it's about driving a broader vision of environmental responsibility and technological innovation."

Aly Khan, Chief Executive Officer of Mega Motor Co, said the company's vision is to drive Pakistan's future with sustainable mobility with BYD, the world’s foremost NEV manufacturer.

"Our commitment goes beyond our customers and serves a wider national interest. Pakistan faces increasingly pressing environmental issues like air pollution and climate change, and we want to tackle these challenges head-on," said Khan.

Mega Motor Co is part of The Hub Power Company Limited, which are establishing three state-of-the-art flagship stores and experience centers in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. It has also announced to set up fast-charging stations across major cities, motorways, and highways.

Muhammad Aurangzeb, Pakistani minister of finance and revenue, said: "(The) government of Pakistan believes technology is the future. BYD has led the way globally and we warmly welcome BYD's entry into Pakistan's EV industry and we look forward to facilitating the green revolution in Pakistan."
