South China University of Technology is one of China's leading universities operating under the direct leadership of the State Ministry of S Education. SCUT is authorized by the Ministry of Education of China to accept international students to study in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship program. SCUT consists of two campuses in Guangzhou. The north campus, situated in Tianhe District, is a propound culture area in beautiful surroundings of lakes and mountains, bluish greenery and luxuriant flowers, traditional buildings and modern architecture, which earns itself the title of "Civilized Campus" issued by the ministry of education. The south campus, located in the University Town of Panyu, has open and spacious environment, with extensive landscape and modern architectures being a feature.
Since its establishment in 1952, it has now developed into a major university that offers comprehensive disciplines including Science, Engineering, Business, Management, Liberal Arts, Art and Design, Law and Bio-Medical Science. SCUT is presently made up of 23 schools, offers Chinese language courses, 67 bachelor’s programs, 177 master's programs, 75 doctoral programs, 2 English-Medium undergraduate programs and one international foundation program. All programs are applicable to international students.
SCUT has a faculty of over 4,572, with 2,361 teaching and researching staff. Presently, SCUT has over 64,297 students, including 13,771 master's degrees candidates and doctoral candidates, 24,775 undergraduates, 14,367 continuing education students, 10,771 on-line education students and 613 international students, which have formed a complete talent cultivation system of bachelor degree, master degree and doctor degree.
